Look upon yourself with love,
at all times through the day,
as if you were your own child.
Consider how much effort
and attention you would put
into the care of that child.
Offer this perception to yourself.
You
are your own child
and you
do need your
nurturing attention and love.

Affirmations

Affirmations are simply prayers which hold the intention of a positive outcome.

Choose the affirmation/s which feel most suitable to your situation, or combine several into one statement, or choose only a part of one.
Take whatever you need.

You can make the statement once, as a simple prayer; or say it on a regular basis to help re-program your mind & body.

You can also use affirmations as a prayer to support another person. Simply replace ‘I’ with the person’s name and adjust the grammar to refer to a third person.

It can also be powerful to make an affirmation for yourself in the third person, as it gives your consciousness access to a perception of yourself as seen from spirit or from the world around you.
First make the statement using ‘I’ and then repeat it using your own name as if you were saying it for another [eg. I am completely open / John is completely open].

I am completely open as I ask to receive the unconditional healing power of the universal source now and always.

I am a spiritual being.
My body is perfect within Divine Mind.
The light now streams through my every cell.
I give thanks for my radiant health.

With every breath I take, I now heal the disharmony within my beautiful body.

I willingly listen to what my body is telling me; I easily understand the messages behind my symptoms; and I make appropriate changes to meet my true needs.

I now choose to be healed.
I am filled with the peace and joy of wholeness.
I willingly take actions which bring balance into my body and life.

I am filled with energy, vitality and passion for life.
My body is strong and able.
My mind is clear and motivated.
My heart is light.
I easily move through the day, and complete all that I want to.

I am surrounded by the Divine Light of Love & Truth, through which nothing negative can penetrate.
I walk in this Light and my fear-giants dwindle into nothingness.
There is nothing to oppose my good.

It is dark before the dawn.
But the dawn never fails.
I trust in the coming dawn.

I am poised and powerful.
My greatest expectations are realized in miraculous ways.

I enjoy the company of all life.
I care and I am cared for.

I live in harmony with others, while always being true to myself.

I, now and always, choose to experience the sweetness of life.
I see the blessings in every situation.

I see Love within myself and it is reflected in everything around me.
I feel the Love and my world is beautiful.
I channel Divine Love through all my thoughts, words and actions.

I am identified in Love with the Spirit of [name person / people].
Our highest interests are nourished, and beautiful outcomes resolve this situation.

Unexpected doors are opened.
Unexpected channels are freed.
Abundance is poured into my life, under grace, in mysterious ways.
I open my heart to receive all I need with joy and gratitude.

The merciful are shown mercy
by the all-merciful.
Show mercy to those on earth,
and God will show mercy to you.

The believers, in their love, mercy
and kindness to one another
are like a body:
if any part of it is ill,
the whole body shares its
sleeplessness and fever.

A man walking along a path
felt very thirsty.
Reaching a well, he descended
into it, drank his fill, and came up.
Then he saw a dog with its tongue
hanging out, trying to lick up mud
to quench its thirst.
The man said: ‘this dog is feeling
the same thirst that I felt’.
So he went down into the well
again, filled his shoe with water,
and gave the dog a drink.
There is a reward for kindness
to every living animal or human.

Prayers of
Gratitude &
Appreciation

You pray in your distress and in
your need;   would that you might pray also in the fullness of your joy and in your days of abundance.
For what is prayer but the expansion of yourself into the living ether? …
When you pray you rise to meet in the air those who are praying at that very hour, and whom save in prayer you may not meet.
Therefore let your visit to that temple invisible be for naught but ecstasy and sweet communion.

Khalil Gibran, The Prophet

While you request support for troubles and difficulties, it is also lovely to express your gratitude, generosity and service.
In this way, you can enhance the lives of others, while also creating a greater flow of nourishing energy through your own life.

The flow of life is a continual cycle of breathing in & breathing out, giving & receiving.
In all things, there is a balance between what you take in and what you offer out.
If you hold on to the nourishment which flows into your life, and don’t offer an equal balance of appreciation and generosity out to the world, you will naturally limit the further nourishment which can flow into your life.
You cannot breathe in the vitality of life if you are holding your breath.
You first need to breathe out, and empty your lungs, before a new rush of life can flow in.

This principle applies on all levels, without judgment, but simply according to the natural law of things.
The more you give, the more you can receive. This includes kindness to yourself as well as others.

Offer prayers of gratitude & appreciation when life is good,
a time when people most often forget the need for prayer and reflection.

Your expression of gratitude  …
for the shining sun, for the smooth journey, for the comfortable home, for the food which nourishes you, for the bird that sings and the worms in your compost  …  is a simple acknowledgement that, in receiving support or nourishment, you are receiving a wonderful gift.

It’s an acknowledgment of the divinity, and right to exist in freedom, of every person, plant, animal, insect, stone, grain of sand, drop of water, or molecule, in existence.
It’s an expression of humility and appreciation for the blessings these things bring to your life.

And, according to the law of giving & receiving, it’s a natural way of keeping yourself open to receiving the support you need.

The highest function of Love is that it makes the loved one a unique and irreplacable being.

Tom Robbins, from Jitterbug Perfume

It seems to me that love is the most important thing in the world.
It may be important to great thinkers to examine the world, to explain and despise it.
But I think it is only important to love the world, not to despise it – not for us to hate each other,
but to be able to regard the world and ourselves and all beings with love, admiration and respect.

Buddha (Guatama Siddhartha)

There is a spirit that is mind and life, light, and truth and vast spaces.
He enfolds the whole universe and in silence is loving all.
This is the spirit that is in my heart, smaller than a grain of mustard seed,
greater than the earth, greater than the heavens.

Bring in the Light for Others

For most people, it doesn’t come naturally to focus on the beauty and blessings within a painful or horrible situation, although this is actually the most healing approach.

Our social programming says that if we don’t feel bad for others who feel bad, we’re being uncaring. But there is a very big difference between compassionately acknowledging the suffering of another, and dwelling on the painful negative aspects of their situation.
The human journey is one of challenge and growth, and this will naturally involve suffering on some level. Thus, at any moment of your life, there will be someone around you who is in pain. It is neither helpful nor reasonable for you to feel bad, suffer or be in pain, simply because those around you suffer.

Perhaps, if you have the physical resources, you may take some practical action to ease another’s difficulty. Or perhaps you may simply ‘be there’ for them, ready to offer practical support when they request it.
Other than that, the best thing you can do for someone in suffering is to carry a light of hope and joy, to see them in good health and success, and to acknowledge all the strengths and skills they have with which to overcome their challenge.

In saying that, I’m not referring to giving someone a ‘pep-talk’ and trying to convince them of how good their life really is when all they can see is darkness and pain (although a natural opportunity may occasionally arise for such a loving, gentle reminder).
I’m actually referring to the consideration of where you place your own energy and attention in the context of their painful situation – how you relate to it – and the supportive or limiting impact this can have for them.

Consider this quote from Marianne Williamson on praying for peace.
She was referring to war, but the truth of it applies equally to our own individual challenges.

“A Course in Miracles says that God does not give us victory in battle; rather, He lifts us above the battlefield.
Our greatest spiritual contribution to this moment is to remember, in the words of the Course, that ‘beyond this world is a world I want.’ Beyond this three dimensional reality where the horrors of war are raging, there is another field of possibility alive in the Mind of God.
Our work as individuals is to claim that world beyond this one, with passion and conviction …
Our task, quite simply, is to love in a way that we have never loved before.
Let us love even those with whom we do not agree, perhaps even those whom we might think we hate.
Let us love them not personally, of course, but impersonally.
Let us reach for the Love of God within us, that we might reach the Love of God within them.
Let us all awaken to a higher truth, that we might be subconscious awakeners.
[They do not] need any of us to fall into this nightmare with them. What they need is for us to remain spiritually awake – to the truth of their Oneness in the Mind of God.
Because all minds are joined, our being awake will help them all to awaken.”

When another is in the dark state of suffering, you can’t help them at all by falling into the nightmare with them, allowing fear for them to rise up within you, feeling bad about their pain, or getting caught up in the drama of their situation.
If you do this, you simply take your own consciousness into that dark state of suffering with them, and energise that state. You only serve to magnify the pain and drama of their situation further.

Instead, claim the reality beyond this one, with passion and conviction.
Try to keep your focus on the positives, and hold your thoughts about this person in the Light.
In this state, the uplifting energy you radiate acts like an energetic beacon for them in their darkness. It helps them to rise above the limitation of where they currently are, and see that other field of possibility.

When you think of this person, remember that they are a Soul on a journey and that this experience, no matter how horrible, is one of transition and growth, with all the blessings and wisdom that entails.
See the person as whole and complete. See the joy in their eyes and the vitality in their body. See them living with passion, a life that they love. See them expressing and applying all of their positive qualities & strengths as they easily and successfully move through and overcome their situation.

Of course, these positive thoughts will remain simply thoughts, in your own mind, unless you embody their potential fully.
The only way to truly do that is by allowing yourself to experience beauty, joy and pleasure in your own life, in spite of the suffering occurring around you.
Let your full being be awash with optimism and passion for life. Feel free to say how happy you are; to laugh and love your life. Express your gratitude and appreciation for all the beautiful aspects of your own life, as well as for those in the life of the troubled person.

This approach lifts the quality of your energy; it strengthens the power of your prayers and positive intentions for others; and it has a direct uplifting and healing influence on anyone you interact with.

Our being awake will help them to awaken.   This is the absolute truth.

Do not add to anyone’s misery by joining in their pain.

Be the light.   Be the radiance of Joy.

True compassion does not lose itself in the miserable reality of another.
Instead, it aims to shine a light on the possibilities for success and joy available to that person.

True love asks only for a person’s highest good, but it doesn’t determine what that may be.
It simply allows.

sacred healing space

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are all powerful beyond measure.
It is our Light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves: Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are we not to be?
You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightening about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine, as children do.
We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us, it’s in everyone,
and as we let our own light shine we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

Add your own Support to increase the Power of Healing Intentions

In addition to the attitudes described above, you can also provide practical energy healing support to yourself or your loved ones through visualisation and intention.

Jesus said: ‘Where two or more pray together, there I am’.
This concept is actually an energetic & co-creative principle.   When you combine your healing intentions with mine, and those of others, together we can create a healing benefit which is greater than the sum of its parts.
So, if you have the inclination, try the following suggestions:

Bucket Full of Love

This visualization can take one minute or ten, depending on the rate at which you want to move through the steps. Do it regularly, once or twice a day when healing is required.
I do it routinely at the end of my meditation, and just generally send to people in need at the time, and to the Earth as a whole.

Sit quietly, with eyes closed, and surround yourself with Divine white light, which flows in from above you.
Imagine your Heart Chakra (in the middle of your chest, at the level of your physical heart) as a fountain, from which flows an endless stream of silky smooth soft pink liquid light. This represents your love in energetic form.
Imagine, in front of your ‘love fountain’, an emerald green container (in whatever form you like – bucket, ornate jug, etc – and as big as you like). The green represents healing & balance.
Let the loving pink light flow from your heart-fountain into the container, filling it to the top.
Next, picture the person to whom you wish to send your love & healing, and surround them with Divine white light.
Invite the angels to take your bucket / jug of healing & love to that person.
See two angels take your container and deliver it to the intended person. See them raise the container and tip it over the person’s head. See the beautiful liquid love-light pour into the top of their head (Crown Chakra), fill up their entire body, like a bottle, and then spill out all over and around them, so that they are completely filled and surrounded by this healing gift of love.
While the angels do this, you might also like to send out your intentions / prayers for the person. Make your statements using positive wording, like affirmations, describing the future healed & balanced state, or the positive outcomes your desire for them.

If you don’t want to visualize the angels, simply see your bucket / jug going to the person at your intention.

Surround People & Situations with Light

Each colour carries its own particular vibrational qualities, and influences us on an energetic level according to these.
When you intend to draw a certain colour into your field, or surround another with it, it is the same as praying for the receiver to be blessed with all the various medicinal & balancing qualities of that colour. It is simply a ‘short-cut’ where, instead of sending out a request which describes the specific support you’d like, you simply picture the colour (and the rest goes without saying).

Using this method also helps to separate you from the details of someone’s illness or painful situation, so you’re less likely to allow your own ‘bad feelings’ to sneak in and have an influence (see discussion above on ‘bringing in the light for others’). Its abstract nature allows you to more easily tap into the positive aspects you wish for them to receive.

The Archangels each have an associated colour as well, so when you send a colour, you also automatically send the support of the associated angel, if you want that.

You can use this method for yourself or another person (or group of people), for animals, plants, objects, a house, a whole suburb, even the Earth. You can also use it for a particular problem or situation (in this case, you’ll need to be creative about how you represent that situation symbolically in your mind, so that you can picture the light around it.)
Simply visualise the receiver being surrounded by a ‘bubble’ or ‘shield’ in your chosen colour.
You can use several colours by layering one colour over the next.
Re-apply the colour whenever you think of the situation.

Here is a brief description of the basic colours:
